"You've gotta weak #5 cylinder"...?
This was told to me by a GM mechanic, but as for any further diagnosis, they were unsure. At idle, it fluctuates between 1000-900, and if I sit by the tailpipes, I can hear an irregular beat in the lope. They did say that my injectors were fine, as well as O2's. Anybody else ever have this problem? Just changes the plugs, wires, coil. Please help fellows!
A weak number 5 cylinder means that the cylinder has a lower compression than the others. It could be an opti problem, it could be an ICM, it could be a number of things. Try using a can of seafoam and clean the resistors in your MAF with alcohol swabbed qtips and clean your TB out with carb cleaner or brake parts cleaner. If you have an irregular beat I'd say something in the ignition system is goin bad - if you have miles on your opti I would put my money on that.
Also, I am so tired of hearing people complain about dealerships/shops. You can't assume they are trying to dick you because they told you there is something wrong with your car... there probably is something wrong if they do. On top of that, they can also make mistakes. If they do, and they stand behind their work, I don't see the reason to get mad and complain like children. Also, dealerships don't need your business, they have enough business to keep them busy and more so usually (key word) they are not out to screw you. Granted they charge full retail for everything, that doesn't mean they are trying to jack you.

My brother had his nissan in a shop for front end work, a week later it went to the dealer for some work the shop he usually goes to didnt wanna work on the problem (something with teh computer). Well he goes to the dealer and suddenly both his half shaft boots are cut neatly all the way around on both sides. Funny how the mechanic that was working under the front of the car on steering **** didnt notice that huh? Crazy stuff i tell ya, but ya dealers arent trying to make $ on anything but warrenty work.
