Question For you LT1 guys...need some help

Well I just threw a crank bearing in my engine so instead of finding another 3.8L I'm debating about throwing in either an LS1 or LT1. I know what I would need to swap out for the LS1, but my question is how much different are the mounts, etc. for the LT1? I can get an LT1 for a LOT cheaper thats why I was wondering, or would it just be best to save up and wait for the LS1? Fortunately this is not my DD so it can be turned into a project car. Also thinking about going from A4 to M6 when I do this, with all these parts to swap do you think I am cheaper just to buy a donor car rather than pick them up individually as I go? Just looking for a little advice from those of you who have experience with this. Thanks!

I would say just sell the car and buy the V8. I see them all over here for 3-4K. The year and type of your car would be important to. A lot of things like suspension, fuel pump, brakes, rear end, etc are different so to do it right it would cost about the same unless you did all the work yourself.

Where are you located?

I just put my 96 Vette LT1 up for sale if you decide to go that route.

I would just sell it, problem is I couldn't hardly get anything for it with a blown engine. Actually I wouldn't be against buying an engine that needed work and building it up before it gets installed into the car. But no I would do all the work myself. I've changed multiple engines before, however just never one that wasn't made to fit in the exact application.

Swap in a junkyard 3.8, sell and buy an LT1. I only paid $2500 for my 95 Z28 with higher miles but in good overall condition.

I have access to a low milage LT1 and auto tranny for very cheap, complete with all belt-driven accessories and ECM w/ wiring. What would have to be changed besides front suspension, and rear end?

the rear end wouldnt NEED to be changed, but it would just be a good idea.
