Yet another "need help, car is missing" thread

Ok, here's the deal.....this is really starting to **** me off.

last week i dropped a rebuilt motor into my car (93). i carried over my water pump, steering pump, ac comp, from the old motor as well as the IAC, MAP, TPS, ICM, & IAT sensors...now before the motor went in, i got a new opti, o2 sensors and wire set just for insurance against a misfire......well guess what the car is doing?

thats right folks. its missing.....now....because im pretty sure the wires and opti are good, im left to think that its possibly a bad ICM or whatever....so i went and did what i shouldve from the beginning and called up Dal and ordered myself a new IAC, IAT, MAP, ICM, & TPS, which are probably en route to me now....

now i just cant get out of my head what the heck might be causing this.....the miss is strange....i can hear some kind of pulse through my stereo speakers that goes up and down with RPM's....could it be a bad ground somewhere? also, 1 thing that happened the other day that also happened on the old motor is that the idle is wacky....upon initial start up it comes to life and instead of dropping to 1000 rpm's it falls to almost 500 and sounds like its about to stall...but it doesnt die. 1 other thing that im not sure how much of a bearing it has on this, is that the prong connection for the IAC is kinda busted....meaning the plastic bits have broken but the metal connectors are still there, and from what i see it still functions ( at least i think) because it has not thrown a code...

now, here's a list of things that ive done to the car / new motor:

SLP 1& 3/4" headrers (uncoated)
high flow cat (single)
spin tech cat back
MSD ign coil.
K&N filter
throttle body air foil
Hypertech chip
Hypertech 160 deg' t-stat
svo 24lb injectors

Now for things i had done to the motor:

upgraded bearings / rings
stepped up cam (entry lvl comp cams i think...tiny bit more aggressive than stock)
light head porting

thats it.

just so i get it all out in the open, the car is still running on the original FPR and i changed the EGR & solenoid around 30-35000 miles ago (car has 150,000 on it)...

So, if this next wave of parts comes in and it doesnt fix the problem (i think ICM is my only hope), i have no damn clue what it may / may not be.....which is why i am typing my heart out here with a plea for help.

thanks in advance.

do you have new springs for that cam? Not saying this is your problem, just wanting to know. Btw, I would check all the grounds before installing any new parts.

I think I should of worded this differently. When you put in the cam, did you buy bigger springs or just use stock? When upgrading the cam, you definatly need new bigger springs, heck if you just do RR on a stock engine, that's pushing the limits of the stock springs pretty heavily.

Hey man, just another post concerning new opti-craps. I for one don"t have good luck with new stock opti-craps. Get yourself a new delteg system and your worries will be over. I bought two brand new new opti-craps from J. cromer inside of two years. I purchased a new delteg and my troubles are gone, three years and still running strong. 1994 camaro M6 purple pearl metallic.

If you have noise in your stereo I would start checking grounds and looking for arcing wires.

The noise are the plug wires, obviously not original equipment replacements.
Are the wires on right are the plugs gapped right, are the valves adjusted right,is the injector wiring right? There are a bunch of things that will cause a miss ya are going to have to check them all.

Check the PCM ground on the stud near the battery. Remove the stud, remove the paint off the fender and reinstall it with dielectric grease.

I found mine to be loose.....

well, the culprit turned out to be the wire from cylinder #3...burned the wire right through the heat sheild.....had to get a new wire set, and just took the longest 1 and ran it above the headers and over the valve cover....works quite nicely
