Y-Pipe fitment question

Ok guys, I have searched, but to no avail! I was under the impression that if I got the pacesetter off-road y-pipe, to go w/ their lt headers, that the y-pipe would bolt right to the rest of my stock exhaust system. I have a friend, however, who told me I would also have to have an intermediate pipe to go between the y-pipe and the rest of my stock exhaust because they were different diameters.... any help clearing this up would be appreciated!!

Re: Y-Pipe fitment question

The y-pipe is 3" so if you have a stock cat back you will need a reducer. But you could probably pick one up for a few bucks at a muffler shop. The y-pipe exits around the middle of the driveshaft tunnel. You'll have to cut the stock itermediate pipe. I took the intermediate pipe out of my car and brought it to a shop to get expanded so it was a simple slip fit. My cat back has a flange on the muffler so it's easy to do, if it was welded I would have figured another way.

I took mine to an exhaust shop around the corner and they just expanded the pipe a bit for me. I brought the pipe that it had to fit to so that they could make a good fit. Didn't even charge me for it. I would recommend that route.

Re: Y-Pipe fitment question

I have a flow master catback. It was the same diameter. I had to cut the bent portion of the intermediate pipe (Like the last few inches before where the Cat is. Then I just sleeved it there. Got good clamps and cranked it down. No leaks and it took 20 minutes with a sawzall.
