xe224/230 Gains from tune + exhaust?

Running this cam on the stock tune and open headers (suck *** Hooker Y-pipe ) Did 200 easy miles and finally got into it alittle to see how it runs.

Car seemed to pull really well past 4000 RPMs, but seems to have a crap bottem end...this from running open headers possibly?

Just curious to what kinda gains i will get when i have it tuned (getting done friday), and if i will see gains when i have my Y-pipe finally fabbed up and installed. Also is it safe to really get into it with the stock tune?

Thanks guys

After my cam install I took it out with shorties and y-pipe only and it definately was missing the bottom end hp and tq. My car also barely ran on stock tune.

Get your exhaust hooked up and a tune and it will feel like another car. I promise!

Daryn, how did the car run? Just curious because I am getting the same cam and will have to use the car a couple of days before the tune.

The car would start right up and idle pretty good, but when the car was in gear it would stumble a little.(rpms dropped)

Also braking for a light or stop sign the car would almost die and did a couple of times.

I had to keep it revved up to about 1200 rpms at lights and stop signs.

Driving around it did good. I've heard of other people driving around with this cam on a stock tune for months at a time.

Daryn, would it be worse/better driving conditions for my A4? How could I manage driving around? Anybody else have any experience/advice to share?

I think it would probably be a little easier to drive with an A4. IMO

Maybe someone out there has a little more experience with the A4?

Anyone?

as with any cam, u will gain a ton in a tune. i, personally, picked up 18 RWHP from a dyno tune.

The computer slowly learns the cam when you install it. But it can only do so much. I think you'll get near 30rwhp with the dyno tune and complete exhaust. Post your dyno run. good luck
