XE 236/242 dyno #'s

Went to Dyno shop and got the beast dyno'd:

353 rwhp @6200rpms
326 rwtq @4700rpms

Barometric Pressure: 30.20hg
Vapor Pressure : .36hg
Intake Air Temp: 92.9 F

Overall I'm very happy, but thought I would be closer to 380-390rwhp..overzealous maybe?

Seems kinda low to me. I would guess more like 370-380.
Got graphs? A/F ratio?

are you still running the stock pcm? If so You will gain alot more hp with tuning.

I've got the graph and rpm/hp sheet, will post them tonight when I get home...so if you dont mind, check back and let me know what you think.

My A/F was getting richer as the rpms increased, maxed out at 12.4 @ ~6200rpms. I HOPE there is more in it, I'm using LT1 Edit to tune it myself. ALSO, my tranny is going out, wondering if it could be slipping at WOT...??

Yes you should be alot closer to 380rwhp and the trq should be alot higher..I had 320 rwtq when my only mods were intake/shorty headers..Hopefully you can pull a little more power out with a good tune.
And watch out for those ls1's
Ive seen them dyno over 400rwhp with just bolt-ons and a cam..

My first assumption is the heads.
Who did the heads? What are the specs on them?

thats the only crappy part, dont have flow numbers cause I didnt get them flowed....didnt get them flowed cause ran out of $$...anyways, Total Performance in Santee, CA did the work. Greg there said they ported them out about the best the could to get them to flow max to match the cam. Put 2.00/1.57 vavles and my intake is port matched as well.

Unfortunately, I cant give the meat and potatoes...flow numbers.

i dont think those numbers are good at all. Marcin(xxsaint69xx) put down almost what you did with CC306 and stock heads.

I have the same cam in my 383 with stock heads & valves, just ported. All the regular bolt ons and I have ran a 12.4 @ 113 on the engine.

Those are not bad numbers for an XE cam. I pulled off 395RWHP and 424RWTQ with a soft ramp 234/242. The key is my peak is at 6,800. 90% of the time a XE grind gives up at around 6,200. At 6,200 I make 380 and gain 15RWHP by 6,800.

When you go to tune it key in on the timing the most. Adjust the PE to get 12.5-13.0. remember a dyno will show a little richer then on the street.

you should be able to get close to 380 if all is well. If you hit 370 I would be happy.

I did before and after dyno's on my heads and before I had 344RWHP with pocket ported heads and ran a 395RWHP with no other changes then the heads. This was with the same tune. She was a little rich. We have since tuned it up and gained enough to push it over the 400RWHP mark. Not bad for a 12 bolt A4

The heads were ported By Loyde Elliot. I then had some additional work to them done by Flo-Technics. I had Dave install 2.055int valves and 1.65 EXT valves then blend all the work together. I have heard others get more for less. for the money I spent(under $1k) I am very happy.

Good luck on hte tuning!

97 red SS.. you have an M6, which plays a big part on a dyno... converting to an M6 equates to 375 to the rear wheels..

The AFR is fine.. there are maybe 6rwhp going to 13.2:1...

The more you ride it and tune it and smooth everything out the better it will run.. nice numbers...

your TQ is REALLY low....
I dynoed 348/344 with my CC306 on stock heads without any dyno tunning.
