Is a XE 230/236 "too big" for non-ported heads?

I have the Torque converter, Programming, Headers, 3.73 Gears, and E.T. Streets to back it up. Its just my heads are not ported. Click on my sig for any thing you may want to check on. Just looking to put a cam in after I had some bad experiences last Wednesday with my Bolt-ons. Do you think the XE 230/236 112 LSA will work alright, or should I get the 224/230 cam? Thoughts?

I honestly thing its too big
the cam makes power uptop and not down low which isn't a bid deal for you b/c u have a converter.
the heads cant supply the air at such high r's

I think 224/230 is a great cam. it should rev upto 6400-6500 with heads anyway. I wouldn't want my stock bottom end revving higher than that anyway

plus it will match your stall better than the 230/236 anyway

Well normally i would say it is a little to much cam but lately there have been a few guys on here that have installed fairly aggressive cams in their cars and seem to love the power band so it is really up to you.Do you want to rpm your engine to 6500 or 6000.If you don't mind going to 6500 which isn't that high then i would say go with that cam.

No, I really dont want to have to take it above 6000 RPMS. Right now my car shifts at 5900 RPM.

Well the cam trey metioned may be a better way to go.The hotcam kit is also a very good set up for the price,i know alot of guys don't like it but there are also alot of guys who run very fast with it and GM put alot of R&D into this cam,I once read a peice in chevy high performance where they spent hours and hours trying to come up with the best all around cam for chevys 350ci fuel injected small blocks and the hot cam is what they come up with.

You can have the XE230/236 ground on a 114LSA like me. It is a little more streetable and you can see in my sig that the power levels are at low rpms.
