XE 224/230 power OUTPUT

I have heard awsome stuff about the XE 224/230 cam kit CM offers, the one with the .536/.544 lift with 1.6 RR's. My question is with my mods how much RWHP will I get from this CAM, 1.6's and PCMforless TUNNING.
Here is the BASIC specs on my car
96 WS6
CAI with ram air, JET HOT LT's, 2.5 y-pipe, SLP LM with Dynomax bullit muffler, 3000 Stall, 3:73's, PCMforless Tunning, and other small things.
My question is how much power will I gain from this XE camshaft, 1.6's and PCMforless tunning.
I only want the car reving to 5900 so should I go with the 112 LSA or the 114 LSA. I will be adding forced induction later, so I just need some info

If I had to guess myself I would say around 35-40 RWHP from the cam, RR's and programming.

what's up dude

<---MattZ28

why only 5900 RPMs?

I'd guess the 114 would still make power past 6200ish....that cam is bad ***. If you don't want to rev that high check out the 218/224 but you don't really need a stall converter for it....but that 3000 stall can never hurt

I shift the 218/224 at 6200. You need a smaller cam if you want to optimize your power below 5900.

Hey matt, whats up man

I only want the car reving to 5900 right now b/c of my milieage (103,000) as soon as I get a new short block, I plan on reving it to around 6400 or so. Just taking it easy on my older motor right now thats the only reason for the 5900 shift point.
I know a 114 over a 112 will lower the RPM range some. Also I have been told a cam with a 114 LSA is perfect for Nitrous or supercharger.

aw cmon......as long as u have good oil pressure the bottom end will be fine.......the valve train is the weak point. once you upgrade the springs, rockers, etc, I'd spin it over 6k depending on what cam you get

Well to what RPM does the 224/230 cam pull to, and what would you guys opinions be on how high I rev it. Since there will be all new Comp cams Valve train I suppose I could rev it pass 6000
maybe 6200 on a 114 LSa
what about that

Dont say that. I HAD that cam, dual springs, chromemoly pushrods, brand new Comp lifters, 1.6 rockers, and everything else supporting. I was running 30+ psi at idle and almost 60 psi under load with amsoil 10-30. Didnt even bounce it off my 6500 rev limiter and threw a rod through the side of the cylinder wall. I know this was a freak occurance but it sucked, just saying if he doesnt want to rev it past what he wants to the cam will make you happy shifting at 5900 still.

Anyway, the cam was awesome. I tore up my buddy pretty bad with heavily ported heads and the hotcam and everything else. I had basically stock heads, just homeported.

For numbers look at sig, not quite tuned in all the way. THat is however with a KILLER set of stock ported LT1 heads, by a guy who knows what he's doing.

If you go to my website, under the black car we've got a dyno chart. I made that Peak HP at about 5800, and I'm sure that there's more in it. The runs were aborted due to the 14.0 lean condition. We didn't want to go any higher, but the car pulls like a raped ape to 6500 now on a better tune.

Best part is the torque curve though.

could that have been a factor in the self-destruction?

just wondering

I have the 224/230 cam and I love it. I shift it at 6000 rpm, but the cam does make power all the way to 6200. I don't see a need to shift after the cam stops making power. As far as the power goes, I had no problem pulling hard on a LT1 vette laying down 330rwhp. I beat him by about 4 cars till 100mph. Love the cam and would highly suggest it.
