XE 224/230 Cam Questions

Do you think this cam would be a good choice for a stock bolt-on car with full exhaust/headers and full air, running on stock heads. I will eventually be getting the heads ported. Also, I know I should get a new set of valve springs, timing chain, and roller rockers.(any suggestions)Is there anything else that I need?
Thanks for your help.

That's what I am doing now. Mods in sig. Went with comp cams 987 springs. Good to 0.600 lift but require machining of the seats.

I was looking at those springs too, but I don't want to have to machine my heads. How much did it cost you for your total cam install?

I do the labor. Parts about 3000.00 total (heads, cam, rr's, headers, y-pipe, gaskets, bolt, opti, wires, ect.) Just a cam would be about $700 in parts I would think. May want to check out thier new "beehive" springs. They do not require machining but since you should get the heads milled its got to go to the machinist anyway.

Combination Motorsports has a set of valve springs good to .600 that require no machining.

Ask CM for the 612 springs.
1.768 Install Height...same as stock spring.
1.255 Outer Diameter.
Up to .600 lift

Just found this post doing a search. You quote the open and closed force on the springs. At what heights are those forces measured?

$89 for the springs, retainers and locks? That seems really cheap.

FWIW i got the CC987 springs to fit stock heads. either you modify the heads or you modify the locators which is what i did. i just notched them where they wouldnt lay flat on the seats and so far so good almost 5k miles or more later.
