X pipe question
this has probably been discussed before, but the search option is just bringing up TOO many results...
What kind of X pipe could I bolt up to my Hooker LTs? Links? suggestions? Im thinking of a true dual setup

i use the summit 3" universal kit (fits very nicely and comes with enuf clamps too bolt it all together and drive somewhere too have it welded, i welded my own)
some 3" too 3" collector reducers with a floating 3 bolt flange
and 3" in and out Flowtech Afterburner mufflers dumped before the rear axle
thinnest, cheapest full size mufflers i could find and they sound amazing!
car is a ****load quieter then the old loudmouth setup
i can still fit a coke can underneath the mufflers, which is the lowest part of the system....good enuf for me

Re: X pipe question
Does the universal kit come with all the pipe you need? Hows the clearance from the fuel lines with the afterburner mufflers? Do the mufflers have a good deep sound? I think I might order the same stuff to do my car.

Re: X pipe question
its not as deep/hollow sounding as flowbastards but i wasnt going for that sound anyway
they rumble at idle and get quieter under load. not raspy or anything like that but they are mellow....compliments get thrown my way. hopefully i'll have some video sometime of it
yeah, the kit comes with everything needed. 4 45* bends, 1 nice x-pipe, 8 clamps
the tq arm i use requires the fuel and brake line too be moved out of the way some for it too be mounted
so there is much more room too be had with a stock mount type tq arm
i also offset the whole exhaust some too the passenger side
this will not clear a BMR or Spohn tunnel mount type tq arm but it does clear the GW traclink
one real nice thing about the mufflers (other then $39 a piece) is that they have offset inlet/outlet and are fully reversible for more flexibility in mounting

Question guys..
I plan on putting the X pipe and everything together in a garage, Ive bought everything except hangers..
Im not really sure what I need as far as hangers?
I was probably gonna have a shop put the finishing touches on it for me, but what will I need as far as hangers to DRIVE the car

Re: X pipe question
I've only had one experience with the Summit 3" x-pipe kit. This was on a car with TPIS longtubes and these headers tuck up very tight to the floorpan. We needed about 3" of additional straight pipe after the collector. Otherwise the turn on the 45 degree leg put us right into the tranny mount. No problems other than that.
Actually like the Summit "X" better than many others I've seen as it is a straighter shot through the "x section" than some others.

everything i bought for mine including mufflers ended up being under $270 (which its been a while, it might have been quite a bit cheaper then that)
type this part# WLK-35103 in at www.summitracing.com
thats the hanger i used, one for each side. you will have to either weld them too the floor pan or drill 2 small holes hang them with a washer on each side and a nut and bolt. i mounted them at the rear seat, where the floor pan rises up for the back of the seat
