here's the spiel...a while ago my water pump blew and boiling coolant went all over and melted part of my intake elbow. sometimes the idle would get low and bounce around a bit and bog while driving. well, i replaced the intake elbow and it ran fine for a while overreving at idle a little, then under, then back up dancing around 700rpm or so. well i was driving the other night above 50mph in 6th gear and went into neutral. the idle dropped to the point of shutting off while i was doing 50mph! almost crashed because when i tried to turn my car on that damn security light came on. can you guys tell me if you have any idea what the heck is going on? it only drops if im doing over 40mph and doesnt seem to shut off unless over 50mph. thanks!

Sounds like coolant was spewed all over the optispark distributor. The only way to fix that is to replace it. For the best price, contact Jason Cromer.

I agree, that's what happened to me. Damn water pump!

 

Cool engineering idea huh?! lets put a major electrical mechanism below a waterpump!!

 

so thats most likely the culpret? thanks soo much for letting me know guys. damn, i thought i was lucky that i never had trouble with it. how much around does this thing cost, is it difficult to replace? i thought 95's have vented opti, hot coolant still messed it up? any info would be great.

 

lol thats funny...yeah that was a dumb idea from GM....sometimes i wish that i had an LS1 but i love my car so i dont hate
