Question Would you buy a burnt motor??

Hey,

I've found a 6 speed setup for my car that is coming from a 94 that had some kind of a dash fire. The guy is asking if I'd be interested in the motor as well. He says the fire went into the motor area. I haven't seen it yet, but from the sounds of it, it got all of the wiring etc on the plenum of the motor. Is there any warping issues I need to look out for? He wants like $300 for the motor.

Thanks

I bought a motor with 8K miles on it that had an interior fire that melted the wiring harness in the engine compartment. Motor runs great. I had the intake sand blasted to clean it up and replaced the trashed valve covers.

Re: Would you buy a burnt motor??

I went to the wrecker yesterday to see the motor as I was buying the 6 speed tranny. To my great surprise, the motor was complete to the catback and included a set of good looking BBK headers . Steal! I even had thoughts of the motor being something special, but it's just a red painted or powdercoated intake.... oh well.

The fire got 6 of 8 injectors, and anthing elctronic plastic on the top end. The throttle body was missing as well. Must have been something nice.

Either way still a sweet deal for $300!
