Would it be OK to do this?

OK guys I've been waiting for awhile to get my 3.73 gears installed and can't seem to find anyone good in my area. Would it be OK to drive like 40 miles after the new gears are in? I know it says to drive about 10 miles then let them cool because new gears produce alot more heat. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks
Matt

I was in a similar situation when I had 4.10s put in my 95 Formula. Guy that did it lived about 1 hour away from me. I really wished afterwards that I had let him break them in and let it sit overnight as they always whined a good bit. No other problems with them, but the whine was annoying.

The guy that installed mine told me to just drive on them a while and then let them sit over night. Heat cycle them a couple of times before you get on it hard.

My gears whine a little, but that's because they're a performance gearset and designed for strength, not quietness.
