...to run an XE236/242 on stock heads for a few months? I don't have the fundage to have the heads ported immediately, so could I survive with that cam on stock heads to get through the winter racing season? I know of some people running the 306 on stock heads with no problems, so would the 236/242 be any worse? I'm pretty sure I'd be fine, but I'd like some more opinions.
My MACs are getting dropped for FLPs or Jet-hots, and I have a high stall to match it. Comments? Suggestions?

I was owndering why did you get the XE236/242 over the 306. I wa sjust waiting cause I have heard both cams are good. Oh and don't worry about running it on stock heads it should not mess with the car. I know people that have ran a 306 on stock heads for over a year with no problems.
IMO, I'd just acquire all of the parts & wait until you're ready to install it all. You could do it anyway of course, it's doable & all. As far as that vs. the ole 306, the xe lobes are a bit more aggressive & should have the potential to make more power. It'll depend alot on your individual setup though, as overlap will vary & you're auto/stall/gear will come into play

The car is equipped at the moment to handle a cam that has a higher powerband than stock; I'm actually over-stalled at the moment. 3600 stall and 3.73 gears, and I'll be using a 28" tire. I don't want to spin past 6400, being that I'm still using the stock bottom end. Anyone using the XE236/243 know where they're making peak power?
