Would a cam and stock heads hurt?
Would a cam and stock heads hurt?
I know, ideally, it would be best to go heads/cam all at once. But that can be kind of steep on cash... so my question is..
Would it hurt anything to go with just a cam for the time being? (say somewhere inbetween CC305-306)
I mean... yeah I wont get all I can out of the cam with stock heads. But just so long as I'm not doing any possible damage, I can get the heads later on, right? Or am I missing something?
Thanks!
Trevor

Re: Would a cam and stock heads hurt?
Alright then
I have LT headers, CAI, 1.6 RR
So what do you think would be the best route to go? I have emissions to worry about, so I have to keep that in mind.
So I was thinking either Comp Cams 224/230-112 or 224/236-114
Too much? I'm just trying to think ahead (always keeping emissions in mind)
Ultimately, I want the best performing cam and decent heads, and under the smog limits by a reasonable amount (I'm already well under, so I have some room to play).
If I do go with either of those cams... what else will I need for the install? Lifters, springs, pushrods? My 1.6 RR are GMPP... I assume their ok?
Thanks!

The mods I listed (in my sig) are ones I already have. No problems with emissions from the LT except it makes running cats a real PITA... but I wont get into that story... bottom line is, with all my current mods, I'm well under the legal smog limit.

Awesome stuff! I just realized you are in ontario, I thought you were in Cali, I dont know if the smog limits are different but still awesome! I wanted long tubes but when I went to the shop to ask them to make me a catback and everything for my car, they said they wouldn't because it isn't legal...
