Worth Upgrading to CC503?

I have my engine out and will be taking it apart to rebuild it anyway. It currently has a HotCam kit, which I have been pretty happy with. But since I am taking it apart anyway, would it be worth upgrading to a CC503 and new springs if the difference is only $100 more? How much of a difference is there between CC503 and HotCam on stock heads anyway?

Any other suggestions?

I wouldnt waste my time doing that personally. You're looking at little or not difference vs the cost. Save that money for other mods.

If you want bigger go bigger or do the heads while they are easy to get to. Stick to the Hotcam unless your dropping in a GM847 or CC306 or similar.

I didn't like the CC503 very much. Power below 2000 rpm was poor. Stick with the hotcam.

i think it will gain abit more power/tq across the board due to better ramp design, but overall peak hp and such will be close. i havent heard of any one complain about the lowend power on the cc503 tho

if you were to upgrade the cam for more power, i'd go abit larger than that cc503

or else spend the money for ported heads... Your biggest gains will be made there. ported heads LT4 hotcam motor will probly make as much power or more and be much more streetable than a stock heads car with a big cam like the 847 cam

what are you running and/or how much power are you making with the hot cam?

i had the cc503 and made 330 to the wheels and ran a 12.0. i don't think your runnin that quick with the hot cam. i personally loved the cam, VERY, VERY streetable... and sounded real nice.

Put the 503 in 2 LT1 builds, but since you've already got a hotcam I'd either stick with that or get something a little more aggressive...I'd say 306 or get a custom grind. Camaro I just sold had a comp cam custom grind and it was great. I just called comp and told them what I had and what I wanted out of the car and they sent me a great cam.
