rotor rubbing on cap
rotor rubbing on cap
Hi I have had some major opti problem and looks like its not getting any better. I am on my second one with the first one running good but throwing a 36 DTC code. I just bought a new ac delco and installed it and runs worse now than it did before. I removed the cap and found that the rotor is rubbing the inside of the cap. Just wondering if this could be my problem?
I have checked everything my brother had a 94 formula and we have took his coil and opti harness off and tested it on mine. Its running now like the timing is 180 out. I also got #1 cylinder at TDC and the rotor was pointing down so I think the opti is in timing. Its got new plugs and wires too. The old one I took off was one of those ebay opti's and it ran good once the ses light came on. I dont know I am about to give up on it.
thanks
Josh

Did you check the rotor screws to make sure they were tight? Did you verify that the pin on the rotor was in the hole that indexes it to the part it screws on to? Are you sure you have the splined shaft indexed correctly to the odd tooth in the back of the Opti, and the odd tooth in the cam sprocket?
