worth taking out that cover under filter?

you know where ur aftermarket air filter goes, there is a cover so it blocks the 'water' coming in around that area (or w/e it does) well if u take it out it looks like the KN has so much more space to get air (since there is no cover that blocks air from coming in)

I think it will help alot... and since i'm in FL there arent too much puddles and crap here...

what do u all think, should i take it out?

Interesting aproach in getting an answer.

The cover is there for a reason and you mentioned the reason yourself. If you take out the cover you will....

1. Get your filter wet and some of the water may/will get into the engine.
2. Attract a lot of dust/dirt which will shorten the filter's life.

The filter isnt goin to be below that panel anyways, so the air will go under it, and the area that it is in, is not air tight, so it'll be fine.

Also if you've ever taken that off, you see that it is the support for the front corner of the car! Without that, it's very flimsy.

Yeah DO NOT take that cover off... If you are looking into power increases for cheap , there are lots of things you can do, IE: TB bypas, low temp TS, polish intake parts, TB , ect. This cover removal will create more problems then it will help .... good luck !!

I cut out the triangular part of it that's in front of the 'air dam'..
That's a 'high pressure' area, and a nice compromise to a 'scoop'

I removed mine years ago when I added a K&N and cut the bottom of the stock air box out. I also removed that 90 degree elbow thingy. Never had a problem with water or anything. I did all these things at once and noticed a difference.
