Question worth replacing oil pump

Helping for a friend to do a project that involves changing cam/heads, rear seal, and clutch disk. We pulled the engine out, and I am thinking about changing oil pump too while in there, since its so easy once engine is out and on a lift. The car has 96k miles, still holds a good oil pressure- above 30 at idle and around 50 when reving the engine.
There are lots of opinions on the board about oil pumps, but no consensus. If we were to replace the oil pump, it would be a stock one with high-pressure spring and 3/4 pickup installed 1/2" above the pan. However, is it worth replacing the oil pump? What is a better brand? I know Moroso has some anti-cavitation, but I haven't found a place selling it. Any other good brands? I don't think an aftermarket windage tray is needed.

Although, obviously not a requirement or necessity, replacing pump, with those miles, would
not be the worst idea. I agree with potential choices, you have in mind. Although an oem gm replacement would be acceptable, my experience has been, that an aftermarket item, such as a Moroso pump, holds tighter tolerances, when it comes to clearance between the two gears, which would naturally generate more pressure. Aftemarket tray, in this case, is not necessary either. Jegs, Pace, and Summit are some sources of Moroso products.

If you already have the engine out, I would do just about everything I could within my means and budget. With 95k it wouldn't hurt because you don't know what might break down later, if not sooner. It will obviously save a lot of hassle, too.

Whether it's HV or standard, put a new pump and a ARP oil pump drive shaft in there. Cheap insurance
