Working on my car

Well my car has roughly 40-45k miles on it and I replaced my waterpump last year...Right now the engine is opened up no heads or anything, in the middle of a cam change/headers/minor head work. I am debating on replacing the opti spark. I will also be doing plugs and wires. Also what timing chain should be used? Where to get it? My car is an auto and isnt revved high at all. My car was running semi ricvh before and after going through all of this I dont wanna have to go back to the opti spark for a while. Is there any wy of checking it? Any info or suggestions is GREATLY appreciated!

Spin the shaft on the opti and listen to the bearing. If it spins freely and doesn't make too much noise, you should be OK. If it's hard to spin and makes a grinding noise, pitch it and get a new one. I'm also a fan of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", but the opti is a whole other animal. I would replace it just to be on the safe side.
