Angry wont turn!! is my power steering going out??

After leaving school today i dropped my friend off and when I went to make a u-turn my front wheels stopped turning, it felt like i was hitting against the wheel well or something. So i stopped looked it over, couldnt see it hitting anywhere, tried again and drove around the block with no problems, felt normal... came back to the same spot and tried to make the same u turn, and i felt it again, this time with more trouble... as i tried to get my car back around it felt as if my power steering was gone (i've never driven a non-power steering car before, but it felt much harder to turn and not smooth) i managed to get it into a parked position and stopped for a few minutes.

Ended up just trying to drive it back home and managed to get home without feeling any problems. Where i was first making the u turn its on a downward slope but I also have a downard slope to get into my driveway and I didnt feel any problems there.. we looked over the wheel wells when it felt like it was hitting and we couldnt see it hitting anywhere, it was close but it wasnt actually hitting...
any ideas? sorry for the length of this but wanted to be as detailed as possible

Check your power steering fluid level.

You didn't lose your accessory belt did you?

Yea what he said. Its either low power steering fluid or a shredded or lost serpentine belt.

I had the same problem and it turned out my waterpump was leaking coolant on the serpentine belt causing the power steering to slip occasionally. Look under the hood and check for any wetness on or around the belt. Like the others said, also check your power steering fluid level, belt, etc...

I had the same problem and the turned out to be that the power steering pump was leaking. It was leaking right at the fitting due to a bad o-ring.
