Yes, I used the search button but didn't come up with exactly what I'm looking for. I'm hoping someone has a "hey, that happened to me" story...

Autocrossing my 96 Z28 M6...just came off a full throttle part of the course...the engine dies. I get off the course and three minutes later she fires up like normal...nothing seems to be wrong. No smells, no leaks, no smoke. I drive it about 300 yards back to the pits stabbing at the throttle intermittently trying to get it to die like before. Nope...ran perfect. Got out of the car and left her idling. About two minutes later she dies...just shuts off...no stumbling or anything...no smoke...nada...just dies. Now she won't start at all. Turns over but won't fire...like she's not getting fuel. Fuel pump is running with key on. When I first crank her over, she acts like she wants to fire but then just turns and turns.

Fuel filter was replaced not long ago, there's 1/2 tank of gas and like I said...the fuel pump turns on when the key is on.

Any ideas? I've gotta get this thing back from the track tomorrow!!

Check for spark, and check the fuel pressure.

 

When you "searched", you would have seen the most frequent response is "did you scan it for codes"......

You indicate the fuel pump is running with the key on. That's not normal. It should run for 2 seconds when you turn the key to "on", then shut off. Are you sure its running all the time when the key is "on"?

 

Started this morning with some help in the form of starting fluid. Idled great and drove around for a short distance at idle but as soon as I put some throttle to her, she died and won't start again. I trailered her home just now...back to the races for the day...then the fun begins tomorrow.

I'm borrowing a code reader/scanner so hopefully that'll tell me what I need to know. Oh...the fuel pump only runs for a couple seconds when the key is turned on...sorry I wasn't clear about that.
