Wiring Question! Please Help!
Wiring Question! Please Help!
Ok! I just installed my CSI electric pump, everything works great with it, so no real problems, I was able to wire up the pump myself..no questions about wiring the actual pump.
What I need help on is how to wire up an indicator switch.
I know I could take the dummy way out and just splice a light and wire in between the relay and the pump, but if I did that the light would constantly shine while the pump was on, and only stop shinning when the pump or car was off. But I DO NOT want to do it that way. I want to rig it up, so It will only shine when the WP stops working AND I would like to install some sort of diode to make the light blink in that event. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks

P.S. Please do not direct me to : http://ken.lowrance.com/Projects/CSI...mp/Default.htm
Because that does not have what I need! Thanks

I did it by running wires from either side of the pump to a second relay. The relay has to have a normally closed contact. I connected the normally closed contact to a red LED, and the normally open contact to a green LED. The power for the LEDs comes from the radio fuse. The relay switches the ground for the two. This way, when the pump is on, there is power to the warning relay, making the green light come on. Conversely, when there is no power at the pump, the relay stays closed, and the red light comes on. I could also put in a flasher or buzzer.

Thanks for that schematic, That is A LOT of help! Though Since I am not too electronically savvy...can you help me figure out how to make that work with the wiring set up I already have? Its pretty much the exact same. Its just I dont know if I understand the toggle switch? Is that just a safety precaution to be able to turn the WP on or off? Would I really need it? As it is hooked up now my WP is running as soon as the key is in the IGN position, and I like it that way. Is there anyway to hook it up with a diode so when and if the WP goes out the light will flash? Basically, I just need some help interpretting the schematic.
Thanks

Not even 24 hours since I posted this and I'm on page 6! Thanks for the initial help! Any other suggestions?
