Wiring harness pricing.

I went to the GM dealership today to price a new wiring harness for the engine. The prices I got were:

93 Z-28 w/o A/C ~ $450
93 Z-28 with A/C ~ $1,550

And of course mine has A/C
what could cause so much of a variation in harnesses???

I thought about getting my A/C fixed (hasn't work since I bought the car), but to have the A/C charged with freon, prices have jumped to 5x as much as they were last year, and I still have to buy a new compressor.

Would Jason Cromer be any cheaper?? Thinking about getting the A/C delete pulley.

What is the reason for needing a new harness? If you only need the engine part of the harness, get a painless for like 300. You will just need to add a few wires. much cheaper than the stock harness, just a thought.

I called painless and they only make a harness for stand-alone computers, not our stock computers. They specialize in making harnesses for motor swaps into older cars and such.

My current wiring harness is covered in electrical tape, and has wires spliced everywhere, and I think the IAC wires are crossed.

I'd definitely check with Jason...but you might also be able to have your current harness repaired. Might be some junkyards selling them as well? No way I'd pay that kind of money if it was just needing to be fixed up...
