Wiring Electric WP

What are you guys wiring these to in your street cars?

I would guess the air pump is the easiest way to go..?

I used a relay from a keyed hot source in the under hood relay box. Please see the link

I wired a relay to run off the fuel pump relay so that it would only run when the fuel pump is running. That way, when you want to work on your car with the key on - like programming for instance - the water pump won't be running all the time. I also put an aux switch so I could run it all the time if I wanted to like if you wanted to recirculate coolant to bleed the system or cool it off in the pits.

Ignition fuse, the AIR fuse isn't constant IIRC. You could run it to a manual swtich instead so you control it.

Air fuse is constant i am pretty sure. I have my MAF hooked up to it.

MD, their is a write up on how to wire it with a alarm and manual switch. I showed to a frind of mine that is kinda into electronics and he said he could make in about 10 minutes.

Also make sure you use a relay and dont just wire it in to another fuse. (i dont why be everyone says this)

What??? lol

I think I used a fuse tap so it wasn't permanent. I think it's on the pcm fuse, but I know it's only on when the key is on.

The last one I wired I used a relay and used something off the air pump to trigger the realy.
This is for a customer so I need to make it dummy proof. No manual switches etc. I will figure something out, not a big deal

...because that's how you should do it... Anything that consumes much power should use a relay.

I used the Painless EP wiring harness. For the 12v supply I used the block on the passenger side near the battery, and tied into the Ignition switch for the the switched 12v.

Also used the painless kit and the junction near the battery for the power. Hooked up the switched wire of the relay to a fuel pump jumper that sticks out of the stock harness near the firewall on the passenger side. Works well and doesn't stand out.

Can you explain more about the jumper? I mean I thought that jumper was just there to test the pump. (I know I was going to apply 12v to drain old gas)

Does it send a signal to the new EWP relay? I am not really good with wires, so I might be confused here. I have this install in my future and this sounds like an easy way.
