windshield heat spots
windshield heat spots
have a 94z convertible...and there are two large, hazy, rainbow-edged spots that appear on my windshield whenever i start the car. (heat from the engine coming through the dash vent?) anyone know what they could be from or how to get rid of them?
I get pretty much the same thing from my 96 z28 t-top. When ever I start it in colder weather, the windshield immedialtly fogs up, originating from two spots in the center of the windshield. I am also guessing that this is from the heat of the engine, but is there anyway that this can be prevented?
My buddy had the same thing on his truck. But it's because he smoked cigarettes and cigars so all the tar and crap caked on his windshield. I let him use a razor blade scraper and some windex to clear up his problem....literally. Never a problem since, but that was like 2 months ago. If you smoke....that might be the culprit.
do you mean the glass steams up a little? what you probably have is a real small seep leak in your heater core. coolant seeps out then evaporates when you fire it up again. heat rises right up into a cold windshield. next start up put the defrost on max and see how long it lasts.
nope, I don't smoke, and I wipe both sides of the windshield well while washing the rest of the car. when starting the car, the windshield immediately fogs up...probably all the heat from the engine compartment blowing through the vents. It takes about 15 seconds on full ac to clear the fogging, but during that time, those rainbow-edged spots are visible just above the center dash vent. could it be some kind of heat damage to the glass? anyways, thanks for the help. I guess I'll get some z-12 and see if that helps.
