Window Regulator????

Well the saga of my window that leaks and wont stay tight, has forced me to take it to two seperate dealerships, and both say its the window regulator.
Does anyone have any experiance wiht these? if its hard to change on your own, or even a way to jimmy rig it?
They quoted me almost 500 CAN for parts and labour, 300 for the regulato and 188 or so for labour.
Now befor I spend 500 to fix a 1/8" gap in my window what else can I do? or is there no way around this?

If the regulator is goofed, then I guess you have to replace it or you might find a repairable problem after you get it out. You will have to drill out the big rivets that hold it to the door and fish it out. The glass is also riveted to the regulator as far as I can tell. I have never actually pulled the regulator. Once out you could take it to a glass shop if you needed some help. Overall would be cheaper than having the dealer fix it. Get a new regulator from Jason or Dal if needed. That will save you some more $$.

I suspect you can bolt it back in, though I would plan on having another ride available in case you got into something that you could not fix in one day.

Before you remove the regulator, be sure to wedge your window with styrofoam or a doorstop. Or the glass will fall.

If you remove the motor from the regulator, WATCH THE COILSPRING!! We almost lost a finger when changing the motor, I removed the regulator and all.

Yes, you can use bolts to reattach the regulator. I did, besides those rivets are really big. Use short bolts so they don't block the movement of the half sprocket.

Shoebox has some really good how-to's on adjusting the window. I would try some of those first.

Good Luck

He tried some of the adjustments when posting last night and they did not work out. Now thinking it is a regulator problem.

Yes, do watch out for that spring.
