Window Motor

I am having a problem, i took the old motor out and am installing the new one when i realize that the rivets are 1/4 in. I don't think anything of it and go and buy some rivets to fit. Turns out the rivet gun will cost me 238 dollars! I said HELL NO and now i don't kow what to do? Should i just take it to a shop and let them reassemble the door for me? Thanks, Nick

Depends on what method you used to replace the motor.

I don't understand. What method? there is only one method right? Rivets. We tried bolts and nuts with lock-tight, but they don't fit with the motor design.

What rivets are you referring to? Did you remove the whole regulator from the door to replace the motor or just remove the motor only. That is what I mean.

The regulator has very large rivets and the motor has small ones. Replacement motors come with small nuts and bolts to hold it on and should work fine.

The large rivets holding the regulator to the door can be a problem and is best to re-rivet them.

i made the mistake of taking the Large rivets out of the regulator and now i am forced to buy a knock-off of the 238 dollar rivet gun on ebay. Good news it they are only 20 bucs on ebay! Thanks man, Nick
