window help(help in IL)

after washing my car today,, (just bought it 2 days ago) my passenger side window started to roll up and down very slowly, and it stopped completely, I waited about ten seconds and rolled up another half inch and stopped.. wait another ten second and another half inch.. could it be the motor or the switch? i tested the switch on both sides and when I use the driver side to control the passenger side,, it doesnt work either,, but my driver side is fine..

if its the motor.. anybody in here in IL that can help me replace.. dealers will probably cost a leg.. lol. thank you very much

Probably the motor. You can replace it yourself without too much trouble with these instructions.

yep those instructions are great, fyi i've done that to my car and my brothers and they work flawlessly now, new motor from Autozone or some parts store will run ya $50-$70 with a lifetime replacement warranty, shop around for the cheapest price

Yep! congradulations you've encouter the first great piece of GM quality! The Window motor...

Sounds just like your motor went out...If anything get 2. And change them both out...to save time later on...My lammo drivers window motor did the same thing...and 2 weeks later after I replaced it the Passengers side motor went out... But just a Hint though...I think the stock motors are held in place by rivits..atleast mine where...to save time drill the rivers out and replace them with some tiny bolts and screws...super life saver and time saver...

Don't ever go to the dealer for parts you can buy off the shelves else where or to have them do..."easy" labor...theyll charge you up the ****! probably $300.00 bucks all together... putting the motors in is easy...hardest part is taking off your Door panels...you can get the motor from Autozone...or anyonline sight for around 45bucks or so...I got mine from ebay.

if you're anywhere near central IL (SPFLD) i could help ya, i guess it takes about an hr. per window and yea the hardest part is getting the door panels off, i'd do it for a bottle of Absolut
just print out the instructions and bring the window motors....

it really isn't that hard at all. those directions are great i did mine about 2 years ago, got the part online for like $60-$70 with shipping. you only drill like 3 holes and the directions tell you exactly where to drill. seriously, don't be intimidated by it. the dealer will definitely charge you over $300.

dont go to the dealer i had my motor redone at a dealer and cost $350 for one motor installed . and no a GM Dealer will not install a Autozone Window motor. no way in hell . they only install OEM GM parts . Trust me i tried that one before.
