Windage tray needed?
Windage tray needed?
Im putting splayed four bolt mains on my block with ARPs. What do I do about the stud bolts that are supposed to hold the windage tray? Do you just use the old bolts or can you order special ARP studs? thanks
Re: Windage tray needed?
Yep you need the windage tray or a pan with a windage tray in it like a Canton pan. It can cause a lot of issues and you can run the pump dry and spin a bearing. OUCH!
You can call ARP and ask them for the center studs that hold the windage tray. You need anywhere from 5-6 depending on the tray.

5 or 6? There are only 3 that hold on the LT1 windage tray right? Anyone else had any experience with this. I want to keep the stock pan... No more money....

Just get 3 from them then. You could always get a Milodon Diamond Screen tray and trim it to fit the motor. Those need 6 studs.

Re: Windage tray needed?
I ran into the same problem with my splayed mains. I'm running the Milodon 7 quart pan without any windage tray. I figured that with 7 quart I shouldn't dryout the sump. I'm probably losing a slight amount of HP due to oil wrap on the crank though.
