I'll agree that they are probably overkill. But I was just pointing out that they aren't a "bad" choice.

And yes, moron drivers have almost cost me my car several times.

I took a close look at the 6-piston calipers when I was at Summit Racing last week and suprisingly they aren't that big. I don't see how they would be overkill for the street. They are nowhere near the size of the 8-piston calipers that come factory on AMG Benzes.

No, they aren't, but that isn't why you have 6 pistons. It is for more uniform force distribution, i.e. making better use of the pad area you have. Honestly, the only brake kit I can see being better than the Wilwood or Baer 6 piston kits is the Mov'it Porsche brakes. Short of that, the Wilwoods are a good deal comparatively at $1300 including lines and installation hardware. *shrug*

They work well enough for me. Don't know why everyone is so down on them.

Thanks for the feed back that Baer track kit is looking better and better, especially for the price.

Honestly, don't bother with the track kit. Its just a more expensive version of the LS1 brake kit. I would go with the LS1 kit if you want to not spend a lot. If you want to spend $700 or so, go with the C5 kit.

I'm still happy with my choice though.

I spent around $450 on my C5 brake setup, no need to spend $800.

12K mile used C5 calipers, rotors, and lines $150
Brackets $200
Paint $6
Misc bolts, parts, etc. $10
Pads $80

Painted them with a can of body color paint, then covered that with high temp clear. Not as cool as powdercoating, but cheap and easy, has held up pretty good so far.
