Question Will This Work To Diagnose Opti

So I'm trying to figure out why the car won't fire up. I'm getting fuel pressure and have already tried bypassing my MSD BTM and of course checked the fuses.

Now, I want to go through the system and determine what the problem is before I just start replacing parts. I was going to go through the steps posted here: http://www.cz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=601565

I found this mulitmeter online: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Elect...motiveQ5fTools

Will this do what I need to do to perform the diagnostics? I need to get this thing running!

Any multimeter will work. Go to harbor freight and get yourself their $3 special.
An LED would probably also work as you're just checking for a (probably 5v) pulse each time a cylinder should fire.

I did see that one but wasn't sure if it would give me all the info I needed. Remember that this will be my first foray into electronic daignostics so I need to make sure the readings will be simple for me to understand. Are you referencing this one?:

No. 99.999% of the test will be for Volts and Resistance/Continuity.

If you want to see if it's even firing, just pull a sparkplug wire off; throw a spare plug into the end of the wire, and set it onto the head or block or whatever and see if it fires when you crank it over. Easy, and doesn't cost anything.

I'll give that a try. I have a spare new plug.
