Will this starter work?

I need to replace my starter and just want to know if this starter from Summit will work on my Z.

Re: Will this starter work?

I just installed that one on my Z a couple of months ago. great starter. A few people here have used that one, and the jeg's branded one.

Awesome, thanks Jason. Certianly can't complain with a better starter for cheaper than stock.

Re: Will this starter work?

did you look into the lt4 starters? autozone brand new is only 115 bucks...no core.

Re: Will this starter work?

yeah I looked at autozone, on the website, and it came up that a new LT4 starter was 180.00 with a 60.00 core charge....unless I looked up the wrong thing, but I put in a 96 Grand Sport just so I knew the right starter would come up.

Either way, I think this starter has more torque than the LT4 and with its different mounting positions I can mount it as far away from the headers as possible.

That particular starter won't work with Kooks headers...You need the short bolt/long bolt mounting style like the LT4 or some have used the Powermaster PM9502...I am very happy with the LT4 on my 11.2:1 383..

I don't have headers on my car currently, but if I were to put some on they would most likely be the Pacesetter long tubes. Will they clear this starter?

Re: Will this starter work?

i have pace setter mids and a 383 at (i think) 11.5 CR with a stock replacement. it's fine for now...and it was kinda cheap. i get military discount at autozone so it was really cheap for me.
