Will an M6 tranny from a '93 fit my '94 M6 swap plan?

I'm just curious if this setup will work at all since I am getting a good deal on the M6 swap but only thing is coming off a 93 LT1 firebird. Are there anything I have to watch out for that may not fir when doing the conversion? Also, I need to buy a clutch since the one with his setup is shot. What do you guys recommend for a clutch kit that is reliable?

Thanks.

What do you mean by gear ratios different than a 94+ (Is this good or bad)??? Also, I just recently swapped an LS1 3.42 rearend on my car but will this be affected in any way? What can be done to make this swap perform as it should???

thanks again.

Yes it will bolt in the same as the 94 on up. The casing is identical. Just the ratios as mentioned above are slightly different. I beleive Sallee Chevrolet has specs. Do a search for them on metacrawler or google and you can see the difference there.

www.f-body.org/gears has the ratios listed. The 93 trans has a closer 5th/6th most noticeably and can therefore be argued to be better, due to its first gear ratio it was rated at 400# instead of 450# TQ, I dont think its an issue - you could always change the gear down the line if you really felt like it. Look at 6th gear OD and you will discover you will not be "needing" to throw in a 4.10 etc in the rear.

they also had two different gear boxes in the 93, one for the 273 rear, m28. and one for the 323 rear, m29. lets put it this way i have 273s in my rear and in 6th gear i haev the same rpm as a 94+ m6 with 342s. you need to find out what rear that 93 m6 had. personally i love my m28 gear box.

If it's an M29 you'll be happy. The M29 was actually destined for vipers in 93, but since Borg Warner didn't have the F-Body spec T-56 ready when GM had the cars ready, GM went to Chrysler and said we need X amount of T-56's, hence the M29 geared tranny. It's VERY stout, and the only gearing difference between that and the M28 is third, with the M29 having a taller third, 1.43 in the 29 to a 1.35 if I remember right. Plus, either tranny you get from the 93 will be a little better than a 94 because you've got the 3.42 gears.

Also, the M28 is only rated to 350 peak TQ, while the M29 (G92 Option for gears 3.23) is rated at 400 peak TQ as someone mentioned earlier.
