Will I pass emisisons sniffer w/ longtubes?

I want to put longtubes on, I know since the last time I got my car emission tested they just hooked it up to computer and put the thng on the exhaust, no one looked under my car. Im asking if I get longtubes w/ emissions hookups will I still pass? Is the only reason why people dont pass because the cat has been moved?

What are some cheap longtubes w/ emissions hookups?

With the long tubes, you will need a different y-pipe which will make running cats. a little more difficult. Some people run a single cat at the end of the y-pipe and others, like myself, run dual cats in the y-pipe. Since I have a 97, I only have to pass the "plug-in" emissions test so I have it a little more easy. I just have the cats. there in case of a visual inspection so I am not quite sure how efficient they really are. Pacesetter does sell long tubes that have all of the emissions hookups if that is the route you go.

Well I have a single cat car so I was thinking a bout getting a custom y-pipe and cat.

It also might be easier to buy the Pacesetter off-road y-pipe and a 3" cat. and put together the y-pipe that way. Otherwise, a shop will charge a good buck to completely fabricate a y-pipe. A shop in Naperville wanted 500.00 to make me a custom y-pipe with a catalyic converter.

Sorry I don't have an exhaust clip, I'm sure some others might though if you put up a new post or do a search. I can tell you though that although my exhaust sounds nice and it does get alot of complements, it is a little too tame because of the Magnaflow CB so I have a 3" cutout ready to go in.

Oh yeah I forgot you lived in Naperville. Everything in Naperville tries to rape you. Cost me $50 to get a cutout welded on wtf? Cheapest I could find. Actually I already have a 3" magnaflow cat in my garage. Maby I will go that route.

I don't think you'll find room for a single full size cat. Heres some pics for ya.

The problem with a single cat put at the end of a LT y-pipe is its not gonna get hot enough to work properly. Dual cats are the only way to go.

I understand. I guess that that is my only way then. Will I still pass, as long as they dont do a visual and know exactly how many cats my car is suppose to have and where?

You can get a small bullet style muffler and throw that in where a cat should go, 9 out of 10 inspectors wont know the difference. Dunno about passing the sniffer though. A good tip is to retard timing 3-5 degrees, it will drop HC quite a bit and help you pass.

Its hard to say if your car will pass the tailpipe test, it mainly depends on how efficient the cat/cats are going to be. As for the visual, I highly doubt they are going to check. In all the times I have gone to the station, they have never checked underneath the car. But I'm still running the cats. in case they ever get ambitious one day.
