Will I like the CC305?

Hey guys, I'm thinking about going with the CC305, CC springs, retainers and locks and some aftermarket lifters most likely the comp R lifters. I am going to have my Dad P&P my heads. I'll also have him port the intake while its off.

Do you guys think I'll be happy with that? Does a CC305 have enough lobe so it will sound good? Any ideas on power? -Thanks-Brad

i'm sure you'll be happy with it at first then you'll want more. I'm already tired of the 230/236.

you'll like it. but i think you'll like that 306 even better, considering your planned mods.

CC306

Wont I have to do more mods than listed with the CC306 though? I've heard the CC306 is pretty radical. Can you tell me exactly what I'll have to do other than, P&P the heads and the intake, new springs, retainers and lock and lifters. I would also get computer programming.

The cc306 isnt going to need anything different from what you have planned for the 305. They will both need springs for sure. If you have the motor pulled apart. lifters and rods and seals and stuff would be a good idea and save you the trouble later. You already have full exhaust and cai. Porting your heads and getting your computer tuned for the cam are basically all that would need to be done. And i am just curious why you didnt list rockers in there. 1.6s will give you just that much more lift

I like the cc305. It drives like stock But there are times I wish I had more.

If I didn't have to worry about smog or daily driving my car 60 miles a day in traffic, I would go with the 230/236 without a 2nd thought.

You might also look into the 224/230 XE. I had the cc305 in my 93 T/A for a while with simular mods to what you have and it would rev well past 6 grand. It had a lope to the idle but not raunchy.

I'm in there with "I thought the CC305 would hold me, but now I wanna go bigger" crowd.

steven95z: if you're working with a 350 or 355, the 305 will get you most of that powerband(really kicking in around 2300 rpm). with a bigger motor, i'd go with the 306.
i've had companions without heads use a 306 and be happy, especially ones with gears.
like 95 LT1 6spd said, your current plans(includind the ones you mentioned in the second question) will complement that 306 just fine, AustinZ28.

Because of the 306's cam timing, you can increase the compression too... go with Impala Head Gaskets .029.
