will a high stall torque converter help me besides just from a stop??
will a high stall torque converter help me besides just from a stop??
Ok guys,
I think I decided to go with LT1Dave's stage 2 4L60 rebuild, and his 3200 stall converter.
Now I know it will hit alot harder right off the line from a stop. But will I see any gains or any differences at around 35-40 mph when I punch it?
I would assume that it would flash to the stall speed at WOT at any speed up to the lockup speed. Am I correct?

it will "flash" up to the stall speed at pretty much every time... it will also not drop below the stall speed after shifting... ie: 2nd to 3rd shift won't yield rpms lower than 3200 at the begining of 3rd gear.... probably put you a little higher even
make sure you get a KILLER tranny cooler tho... high stalls = extreme heat = dead tranny converter in a VERY short time
thanks for the info.
I have a Hayden tranny cooler now. It was the largest one I could find, 24000 gvw I believe. You think I'm good with that?
I also have a trans temp guage to keep an eye on things.
Should I get a better converter than the LT1dave 3200? Maybe a Midwest? Torco? Edge?
I don't really want to drop the cash on a vig or yank. this is just a street car, will maybe only see the track once or twice.
