Thank you! THATS what I was trying to say.

All valves were set to 1/4 turn past 0 lash.

Thanks for the info, but I thought the opti used a shutter wheel for the cam/crank signals, didn't think it needed to "calculate" it. Guess I need to do some research on how exactly the opti works

If the car has always run like crap since rebuilding it why wouldn't the code have popped up earlier? IIRC from my searching for my own CPS issues, long cranking times, rough idling or driving on rough roads have caused enough disruption in some cases to throw the code.

I disconnected the battery everytime I am done. When I finally got the scanner, the car would not crank at all & I just got the TPS code.

Perhaps "calculate" was the wrong term. The opti determines cam and crank position by virtue of the shutter wheel. The point was, it is already feeding crank position to the computer. If the chain is off a tooth, it would give the computer an incorrect position.

I know this is a old thread but My question is this.

I installed a 95 engine into a 96 z28 The car starts and runs but it runs rough sometimes then pops out the exhaust, How can I dissable the crank signal feed because I keep getting a crankshaft code?, Thanks

Fix the reason it is running rough and pops (that should be your bigger concern) and the code will likely go away.

I should have explained myself, When cold it runs fine in open loop but in warm closed loop it starts to miss and throw codes,I also smell excess gas as it it's running too rich.

My question is can I hook the wire for the crank signal up another way since the 95 engine does not use it but the computer is picking up that it's unplugged?

I don't know of a way you can fool it. Reprogamming could get rid of the code.

The only thing you can do is to turn off the light in the PCM. It will still look for the CPS, it just won't display a code if it's not found.

The CPS won't cause the issue you're having. It's only used in the misfire detection portion of the PCM. Sounds more like an issue with the O2s such as a leaky exhaust or something. Scanning the car with Datamaster is probably your best bet.

That my friend is indeed the problem,I bought the car with BBK exhaust but it was a clamp together job, I will tend to that first thing tomorrow.
