will car still run with Blown Head Gasket?

well the story is i bought a 96 z28 t-top car from guy said a women ran it hot and parked it, he put new water pump, thermostat, and starter on it, but never put alternator back on it, and said he check compression on driver side and the 2 out side cylinders had around 135 psi and 2 inside was around 20psi, but i tried to start the car and the motor just turned over, would not start, should it start without the alternator on , and a blown head gasket?
i mean i am gonna take both heads off and get them checked but just making sure i don't have another problem.

My 93 was bought w/ a blown headgasket thats why it was so cheap.
I also bought a 95 eclipse w/ a blown headgasket.

Both started and drove around the yard into my garage.
But the Eclipse had been run w/ oil water mix and eventually spun a rod bearing, and cam caps were trashed.

So most of the time they will start. Is it a good idea, hell no. And if the wife ran it real hot the Heads may be warped.
My z28 had to have starter fluid dumped into the thing before it would crank.

Good idea to pull both heads and have them checked+ u get to replace the other as ins.

I got the usual How To Rebuild a LT1/LT4, they have them at Borders or books a million. $20 bucks , its not High Performance related but every one here loves it. pic below.
My heads are at the machine shop right now, and im waiting on their inspection report. I just cleaned them w/ a little 300 grit sand paper and they said they would have to be milled. Blood suckers
