Last question... (I hope) would the knock sensor cause the car to hesitate and seem to misfire?? or run rough?

 

I would think it could if you were getting large amounts of retard based on false reading from the sensor. Just thinking out loud.

 

If the PCM sets the code for a faulty knock sensor circuit, it defaults to a pre-progammed knock retard table that will produce as much as 15 degrees of knock retard. You will "feel" it. You will see anywhere from a degree or two of retard, up to 15 degrees at all times.
