I have a 1996 Camaro Z28 and I'm wondering if a computer from a 1994 Z28 would work? I'm having some issues with the computer and have been told it might be bad so I'm looking into seeing if replacing it might help.

 

Definitely not as a direct swap.

 

I'm getting a code that shows it is the crankshaft position sensor is bad but we had our good mechanic friend check it and he says he checked the sensor and everything is alright. is there anyway to check the computer to make sure everything is fine?

 

There is no way to really check the computer, itself. It's a little hard to suggest a course of action when the only thing known about troubleshooting is that someone said everything is alright. Maybe you should post the exact code you are getting, too.

 

Have the mechanic get a pinout test, or at least a wiring diagram to check to see if the problem is in the wiring before you replace any parts.
