Will a 94 computer work in a 93.

I have a 93 z28 with a six speed. I want to use a computer out of a 94-95 z28. Can I use the computer from the 94 or is there a difference in the wiring harness?

Mahoney is well aware of the speed density versus MAF on the two vehicles. I believe in tunercat, speed density mode can be used...so it would be easier to tune the 93 if he had an OBD1 computer from 94-95 rather than keep sending out for chips for his 93. Anyone have any insight on this?

You're going to have an interface problem with the injectors. The 94 PCM hs 8 individual injector connections for the sequential injection. That means you need a wire to each injector, not one wire per bank like the 93 harness has.

The 94 PCM will also be looking for the skip shift solenoid - no big deal, solved with the resistor. Not sure if the speedo output of the 93 VSS is compatible with the 94 PCM input. Needs to be checked.

INteresting...I noticed that tunercat has a def. file for 93 fbodies...doe this mean they came up with some way of tuning the 93 pcm without burning chips because I have tunercat...?

I've posted this many times. The search button is an incredible feature.

94 A4 harness for an automatic. These are easier to find.

On the 94 harness, there are two wires that need to be swapped around for this to work. The wires are for fuel pump and serial data.

In addition to that, you will need to get heated o2 sensors and swap out the bottom plate of your throttle body with a 94+ one. Or you can cut the IAC connector off the 93 harness and swap it over to the 94 harness.

You will most likely need to convert to a 94-96 instrument cluster or just swap a 94-96 cluster circuit board into yours. (make sure if your cluster is 150mph, the 94-96 cluster is also 150mph if you're swapping boards only)
Some people say the 93 cluster will work, but I swapped mine anyway because I know a 94-96 cluster won't work on a 93. (93s have a tach filter in the harness so you normally have to remove it if swapping in a new cluster... or swap boards)

The swap will be harder with an automatic. You will either need a 4L60E, or you will need a different VSS. You might get it to work with some tuning, or it might even work without doing anything. I know the part numbers are different for the VSS between the 2 years.

Ion, I did a search and didnt find this exact post yo just showed. Seems to be more trouble than its worth. What are the tuning options with the 93 besides sending it to someone else to tune? Why is there a def. file for a 93 on tunercats site? Is that just for a chip burning software? Thanks.

Just a guess here... but it might be used for realtime tuning with an emulator. That would allow you to make adjustments on the fly, and then burn a chip once you've got everything right, rather than burning and burning proms just to try different things.
