Yesterday when i was through driving my car i heard like a ticking/knocking noise coming from the motor. I used an automotive stethoscope and determined it was coming from the pass valve cover.

I let the motor cool for about 2 hours, then went back out, pulled the valve cover, and started it up. The noise was gone.

Today i readjusted all the rockers while they were running, let the motor heat up to about 220, shut it off, and still no noise. What could this have been?

The only thing i can figure is maybe one of them was hitting the valve cover. but it didnt seem loud enough. It was only loud enough to where i could barley hear it while driving. But it was quite audible while looking under the hood. Any thoughts?

 

Could have been a temporary sticking lifter.
