Knock knock....whos there???

It was brought to my attention today about a wierd noise coming from my engine. When the car is idleing, there is a light knocking noise, seems to be coming from the center of the engine( like not from one particular side). It seems to dissapear when throttle is added, but it may just been droned out from the engine noise. If it matters, they are origional spark plugs on the car with 71k miles. Thanks!!

I would recommend getting new plugs and wires and see if that helps any.

I really hope its nothing related to the engine. At 45k miles, the engine was replaced under warrenty at a dealership. There was nothing wrong with the engine, but the man I bought the car from worked there and just wanted to have a new engine. The thing I dont understand is why they would put the origonal spark plugs back in...

You also may want to drain your oil and make sure there is no metal shavings in the pan. Is the knock you are hearing loud??

When I was leaving school today, my SES light came on. Took it to autozone and had it scanned. I cant remember the exact code, but it was the O2 sensor heating element malfunction. The code came on when my car was cold so I suspect it is probably for real. Don't know if this is any realavence to the knocking, which by the way isn't too loud, but noticeable. I'm probably just being **** and overly paranoid about my car since I don't have a lot of money to fix it....

LT1's do also have exceptionally loud fuel injectors...put a screwdriver on the fuel rail and listen to the butt of the screwdriver. If you hear the knocking, thats where your noise is coming from...if not, it looks like you have other issues sorry to say...

Hope this helps...
