I've heard of a 315/35 being put on, but it's not recommended. It's in an old issue of either GMHTP or HPP, I can't remember which.

For performance, a 275 is the max.
Check out this page and click specs
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...Kumho&x=17&y=3

You will see for a 295 you need a 10 and a 315 you need at least an 11.

You can cram a big tire on a small rim, but the sidewalls will bulge giving you less contact patch and performance than with a smaller tire. If you want it just for the looks, then cram a 315 on a 9 inch rim, it will fit.

The larger the rim the stiffer the sidewall will be and the better the car will handle.

No you can fit a 275 on a 11 inch ...If you had 9.5's in the front and 11's in the rear, the rear sidewall would be a bit stiffer and the car would probably tend to be loose or oversteer a bit. The best bet would be to run the 11's in the front since these cars tend to push anyway.

i have a set of 315/35 on mine, they rub on the inner finder well. You have to bet it in which doesn't hurt anything.

You should NOT put 315's on a 9" rim. As stated before, the 315 requires a 11 inch rim. The tire manufacturers dont just pull this stuff out of their asses. This is design spec, published by well paid, highly educated engineers.

I have 9.5" ZR-1 rims on order right now. They will be getting 285/40R17 Firestone Firehawk tires in the spring.

Check out the thread in this link. A couple of the guys in that thread are really into tires, one of them being in the industry. It will change your mind about the 315's on the 9" rims.

Even though you can get them on there, why spend more money for a bigger tire that is going to perform at a lower level than a smaller cheaper tire? I guess if you are a high school kid you can impress your friends with your wide tires.

Did you take the time to read the thread I posted?
Did you *see* the picture in the thread I posted showing a 9.5 inch rim with a 275 tire next to a 11 inch rim and a 315 tire? The difference is HUGE. If you think contorting a 315 tire to make it fit on a 9.5 inch rim is OK, you are crazy! The picture speaks for itself!

If he has a 9.5 inch rim, he should go with a 285 tire. Tirerack has Firestone Firehawks on sale in the 285 size for $165 each.

If he has a 9.0 inch rim, he should stick with the 275s.
