Why would a timing chain brake

Why would a timing chain brake

What causes a timing chain to brake. Too much rpm, too much load, defective manufacturing ? My timing chain had 3-4000miles on it and it came apart and not at the link. Brand new motor done.

there is a stock lt1 a stock lt4 and an extreme duty all made by gm. sounds like you went with the cheap one.
