Why would I still be throwing a code?
Ok so I have been dealing with P0100 for my mas air sensor. I noticed via LT1 scanmaster, that I was not getting a reading on my sensor. I go to jiggle the wires around the pigtail connector, and then get a reading. No codes had been thrown at this point.
So every time I got in the car and drove I made sure that I was getting a reading for MAF on the Scanmaster which i did. I then get a SES for the above code.
I have ordered a new pigtail, to splice into the harness, but im not sure why I would be getting a code still even though my sensor is reading consistently now.
Also I have heard that 97 models are more prone to having issues with the pink wire on the maf. Where are the issues with the wire most common? How is the harness routed different than earlier years?
I am trying to get inspected, and need this solved.

P0100 sets when the PCM sees 4 consecutive readings from the MAF sensor, with no change (<2 frequency units) in the readings. It's looking for a frequency change of at least 2 between readings. Hence, the code can set even if your ScanMaster shows activity.

So how should i diagnose the pink wire, if the short is intermittent? I mean I just don't want to blindly cut and replace wire. I have the pigtail, but would like to pinpoint the short. I guess volt meter and moving the wire all kinds of directions is the only way right?

For those that care......It seemed the wear in the pigtail harness that went to the MAF im guessing was caused from excessive movement of the wires. (wires were just worn looking) I can contribute this to maf position in conjunction with the hood. I feel that it is important to make sure that MAF is tilted slightly to ensure that the wires do not get any wear that is unnecessary.
I wound up getting a new pigtail connector off ebay and splicing it in.
I have fixed both codes on my car at this point, and the freaking SES is now off.
I can say that LT1 scanmaster helped me diagnose this problem due to real time diagnostics. (it let me know it was wiring issue and not the sensor itself)
