Why would anyone splice into Injector #3?
Why would anyone splice into Injector #3?
I bought the car about 6 weeks ago.
Today, I noticed a wire spliced into the injector on Cyl #3.
It runs back through the firewall. it was green with a pink stripe.
it was in a small peice of loom with zip ties and hung across the valve cover
(which is how it got in my way and caught my attention)
I havn't looked under the dash yet to see what it goes to, but it did seem a little odd.
Whoever installed it ripped the hell out of the injector wire (pink)
I repaired it and took that extra wire off.
The car seems to run the same as it did before.
Any ideas? Maybe a shift light or something? (on an A4????)
The car is a 93 Firehawk Automatic.

<thats my professional opinion! The car does have an aftermarket alarm, but I don't see how an ignition signal has anything to do with it. I use it as a keyless entry system LOL.
The alarm does have a remote start built in, but it doesn't work worth ****.
Maybe that was it. (But why run to a single injector?)

one more vote to previous owner = dumbass.
Re: Why would anyone splice into Injector #3?
Follow-up .. I later realized that this wire was so that the remote start could sense
when the engine was running so it could stop trying. Once this wire was removed,
remote start would keep engaging the starter even once the car was started.
I've since tossed the alarm, remote start and associated speaker in the trash.

The pink wire at the injector has switched power any time the ignition is on. The engine doesn't have to be running, there's always 12V there. The injector is fired by the PCM supplying a ground. They could have picked up switched 12V power at numerous points, without spliging into a wire.
