I just put this motor in. Comp cam, heads and all the nice bolt ons. It wouldnt idle or shift when i first drove it. I changed the TPS and everything worked fine. Now it wont idle. It trys to idle at 300-400. the car has sat for 2 yrs before the motor was actually put in. Its got a new opti and the computer is a OBD1 conversion from madz28.com. Anyone have any idea what i can do to make this idle better. I was looking at shoebox and i was thinking about the IAC being bad. But i dont have a SES light on.

you definately need a scanner-scanmaster(thunderracing.com),autoxray(ebay-got mine for 160 or jcwhitney has em for 220), or an actron scanner from jegs)
Even though you dont have an SES it may be throwing a code. Even if it is not throwing a code you will be able to see all the sensors readings.

 

Scanning software w/cable and laptop or a scan tool would really be helpful. You can always check the IAC to be sure it is not gunked up as well as look over all hoses and connections.
