Why are some of my rockers/pushrods not moving??
I bent two pushrods because my rockers were too tight. Now they are replaced and it looks like 2 or 3 of my rockers are not moving. I am using Comp R lifters... does it mean they are collapsed? Wouldn't the pushrods bend before the lifter collapses? I need info before I have to take the intake off again.
Maybe you should give some more info on how things got bent in the first place. Why were the rockers so tight? Are you adjusting them correctly? Comp R's take only about a 1/4 turn of preload from what I have read.

they were so tight because I did not lash them with the car off. I simply put them screwed them on and planned to adjust them with the car running... but my plan failed, the car did not even want to fire. So... I looked around and found 2 bent pushrods. But the cylinders not moving were the same way when I first tried to crank the car before the pushrods were bent... Also, it seems like the cylinders with bent pushrods are not the only ones not moving when I crank it.
What could be the problem? Do you think comp R's with <600 miles would give out after that? I had them soaked in oil and everything. I doubt it's a wiped out cam lobe, wouldn't that come with wear and tear and also, it would at least move a little bit...

Go back pop your intake off and inspect EVERYTHING.. be patient and look at EVERYTHING.
Turn the Motor (by turning the crank) and check out the cam through the lifter bores...The first time I did my rockers it was a nuclear meltdown... Destroyed a lifter and owned a bunch of pushrods... Readjust them, and do it 1 cylinder at a time, going in firing order. I did that and it totally rocked. Now my engine is set up ****...

Okay this is weird... I pulled the intake tonight and took a quick look at the lifters and cam lobes on the valves where the pushrods were bent. The lifters are all fine and none have collapsed, the cam is fine as far as I can see although it's hard to see down the lifters bores, but the roller on the lifters were perfect still...
This is the weird thing, all of my intake ports are swimming in gas... I hopped on the radiator shroud to get a closer look in the lifter bores and out of the corner of my eye I saw liquid swishing around. At first I thought it was oil because I dropped a very small amount into one of the intake ports as I was dousing the lifter valley with fresh oil. I know I know they should have been covered but I had just taken the rags out which was stupid. But anyway, I siphoned some out and low and behold I smell gas. Now what the hell is up with that? I can't see well into the 4 rearmost ports but I can see into the front two and there was plenty of gas swishing around on top of the valves. Does that mean that there is also a good amount of gas in the cylinder??? How do I fix this and what could cause this?
As for not seeing the rockers moving, I don't know what could cause that because everything looks fine. Maybe I was tweaking or something I don't know. I'm going to make sure tomorrow but whatsup with this gas problem? I want to drive my car so bad and I keep running into problems. PLEASE HELP!!!

if your rockers were too tight it will no allow the valve to open there by puddling up gasoline in the intake runner on your heads... re-adjust them correctly and be done with it... doing it dynamically is a pain in the ***.. just do the 1 by 1 cylinder method, it should take you 15 minutes tops...
I understand man but how the f*** am I going to turn the crank? I can't use the freaking hub bolt so how else can I turn it??? I'm sorry for coming off like that I just want to get the thing running and I was so close and ended up having to take the damn intake manifold off again to see if anything got messed up. Even after I backed all the locknuts off and replaced the 2 bent pushrods it still didn't want to crank... does that mean the cylinder is flooded or what? Whats the deal here?
How do you usually turn the crank, using the hub bolt?

Well if you think there's fuel in the cylinders, just pull the plugs out & turn it over. As far as stuff not moving & lobes being okay, id think that either the lifter was hung up & wasnt contacting the cam, or you arent turning it over far enough... some make the mistake of only turning the crank over ~360deg - keep going if you arent
.
Good luck

Ahhhh good thinking phil. That didn't even cross my mind that without pressure from the spring the lifter could get stuck up. I feel so stupid sometimes I swear... bending 2 pushrods without the car running, wtf haha.
If there was fuel in the cylinder, which could or could not be possible, would I have to replace my BRAND NEW never fired plugs? That would be a major PITA. I will try siphoning the gas that's sitting on top of the valve, hopefully that's all of it and the valve never opened.
EDIT: It wasn't moving while I was cranking the car.

Are you sure you turned the motor over two full revolutions? Each valve opens once per two revs.I wouldnt reuse your intake gasket either.Turn the motor over with the pulley bolts, unless the cylinders are full of gas. Then remove the plugs.Adjusting the rockers is simple once you understand it.Adjust any rocker that isnt being opened. An easier way is if the exhaust valve is open,do the intake. You just have to turn the motor over a lot.If it doesnt start after that,I am guessing the opti is on wrong.
